TASHKENT, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Uzbek law enforcement officers have seized nearly 95 kg of hashish in the country's eastern Tashkent region, authorities said Friday.
The drugs were discovered hidden among trees in a field, concealed in four sacks containing 109 packages. Laboratory tests by the Customs Committee confirmed the substance was hashish.
After locating the cache, law enforcement officers kept the area under surveillance for eight days and detained two men who arrived to retrieve the drugs, according to a statement released Friday by the Customs Committee.
The seized hashish was estimated to represent about 700,000 doses and have a black-market value of more than 10 million U.S. dollars, according to experts. ■
