Strait of Hormuz can be reopened in 7 days if conditions are met: Iranian FM
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said Friday that his country has conveyed to the United States a plan under which the Strait of Hormuz can be reopened within seven days if necessary conditions are met.
Iran has conveyed "a concrete seven-day plan" to the United States through Qatar, Araghchi told reporters at the UN Headquarters in New York.
The seven-day timeline will start as soon as Washington accepts it, he said.

Scores of delegates walked out of the United Nations General Assembly hall in protest as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took the podium to address the general debate of the 81st session.
Netanyahu used his speech to defend Israel's military actions in Gaza and elsewhere in the region, amid growing international criticism and diplomatic isolation.
Rejecting allegations of genocide in Gaza, the Israeli prime minister claimed that Israel "didn't commit genocide. Israel prevented genocide."
Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Türkiye discuss strengthening joint defense
Military chiefs of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye met in Riyadh on Friday to discuss the security situation and ways to strengthen defense cooperation, according to the Saudi Ministry of Defense.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, the ministry said military chiefs from the three countries reviewed the security situation and threats facing Saudi Arabia and strongly condemned the attacks targeting the city of Mecca as well as the kingdom's civilian and economic infrastructure.
The participants discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation among the armed forces of the three countries, including enhancing intelligence cooperation, military coordination and capability integration, with the aim of bolstering deterrence and collective defense.
NASA announces crew for SpaceX Crew-14 mission to space station
NASA has announced the four-member crew for its SpaceX Crew-14 mission to the International Space Station, with astronauts from the United States, Japan and Russia set to launch no earlier than spring 2027 for a long-duration science mission.
NASA astronauts Kayla Barron and Chris Birch will serve as the spacecraft commander and pilot, respectively, while Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Makoto Suwa and Roscosmos cosmonaut Arutyun Kiviryan will serve as mission specialists, according to NASA.
The mission will mark the 14th commercial crew rotation with SpaceX under NASA's Low Earth Orbit Program. The crew will conduct scientific investigations and technology demonstrations designed to support future human exploration of the Moon and Mars, as well as research benefiting people on Earth.■
