TOKYO -- The death toll rose to 11, with three others still missing, after heavy rain brought by a large typhoon lashed the Kanto region in eastern Japan and triggered landslides and flooding earlier this week, local media reported Friday.
Among the deaths, seven were confirmed in Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo, while four were confirmed in Kanagawa Prefecture, southwest of the capital. ALMATY -- The death toll among Kazakh Naval Forces servicemen swept out to sea during naval drills on Thursday has risen to 12, the Kazakh Defense Ministry said.

JERUSALEM -- Two Israeli soldiers were killed on Thursday when a crashed Israeli military drone exploded within their outpost in the northern Gaza Strip, Israel's state-owned Kan TV News reported.

KIEV -- At least five people were killed and 31 others injured in Russian strikes on the Ukrainian capital on Friday, Kiev Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said.
One of the strikes hit an office building in the Solomianskyi district, killing four people and injuring seven others, Klitschko said in a post on Telegram, adding that the attack also sparked a fire in the nearby parking lot. (Ukraine-Russia-Strike) ■
