JAKARTA -- The death toll from a passenger ship that capsized and sank in Indonesia's Java Sea rose to 42 on Thursday, with 93 people still missing, according to the National Search and Rescue Agency.

KABUL -- At least four people were killed in airstrikes carried out by the Pakistani military across three Afghan provinces on Thursday, the Afghan government said.

CAN THO, Vietnam -- A welcoming ceremony was held at Vietnam's Can Tho Port on Thursday for the first foreign trade vessel to sail through China's Pinglu Canal.
