SYDNEY, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- One police officer has died and another has been hospitalized after their vehicle crashed into a tree in Sydney in the early hours of Friday morning.
A police statement said that the marked police car was traveling under lights and sirens when it crashed into a tree in the inner-Sydney suburb of Redfern around 1:30 a.m. on Friday.
The passenger in the vehicle, a female constable, died at the scene.
The driver, a male constable, was treated by ambulance paramedics and taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Police established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the incident. ■
