NAGOYA, Japan, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- DPR Korea's Ri Song Gum broke the world record to win her country's first gold medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. She set three world records in the women's 49kg category.
Ri lifted 94kg in the snatch, 121kg in clean and jerk, and totaled 215kg - all three marks broke the world record under the new competition cycle. The gold medal in the women's 49kg category was DPR Korea's first gold of the Asian Games.
"I'm really, really happy. I don't even know how to put it into words," Ri said.
It was Ri's third consecutive Asian Games gold medal as she also won titles at Jakarta in 2018 and Hangzhou in 2023. ■
