BEIJING, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee held a meeting on Sept. 21, which studied major issues on strengthening full and rigorous Party self-governance with perseverance. Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, chaired the meeting.
It was decided at the meeting that the fifth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC will be held from Oct. 26 to 29 in Beijing.
The Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee reviewed a report on soliciting opinions from both within and outside the Party on the draft Decision of the CPC Central Committee on Several Major Issues on Persistently Advancing Full and Rigorous Party Self-Governance. It was decided that, after incorporating the suggestions from the meeting, the revised document will be submitted to the fifth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee for deliberation.
It was noted at the meeting that the process of soliciting opinions promotes democracy and pools collective wisdom, with various regions, departments and people in all fields giving full endorsement to the draft decision. It is believed that the draft decision summarizes the achievements and experiences of the Party's full and rigorous self-governance in the new era in a truth-seeking manner, offers in-depth analysis of the situation and tasks facing the Party in the present and coming period, and sets out strategic plans for persistently advancing full and rigorous Party self-governance. The draft decision reflects the historical initiative of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core to strengthen the Party and the nation. It holds significant practical and long-term guiding importance for advancing the new great project of Party building in the new era, and for uniting and leading the Chinese people of all ethnic groups to advance the cause of building a great country and achieving national rejuvenation on all fronts through Chinese modernization.
The meeting emphasized that, to persistently advance full and rigorous Party self-governance, it is imperative to adhere to Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the Theory of Three Represents, and the Scientific Outlook on Development, and fully implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. We must intensively study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Party Building, focus on achieving the Party's mission and tasks, and implement the general requirements for Party building in the new era. It is imperative to take the Party Constitution as our fundamental guide, keep the vanguard nature of the Party, uphold overall Party leadership and the centralized, unified leadership of the Party Central Committee, and focus on enhancing the Party's long-term governance capacity, preserving the Party's advanced nature and integrity and maintaining a close bond with the people. We must keep to the strict tone without wavering and improve the system for full and rigorous Party self-governance. We must set strengthening ourselves politically as the overarching guide, make all-around efforts to strengthen the Party in all respects, fully inspire the enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity of the whole Party, and make continuous efforts for the Party to purify, improve, renew, and excel itself. We must continue to strengthen the Party's capacity to provide political leadership, give theoretical guidance, organize the people and inspire society, all the while ensuring that the Party always remains a vibrant Marxist governing party that stays at the forefront of the times, enjoys the wholehearted support of the people, can withstand the assault of any wind or storm, and that it always serves as the strong leadership core of the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
The meeting stressed that the entire Party must, from the strategic height of consolidating the Party's ruling position and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, deeply understand the importance and urgency of persistently advancing full and rigorous Party self-governance. We must firm up our confidence, maintain our resolve, and do a good job in upholding and applying the valuable experience of full and rigorous Party self-governance in the new era, with higher standards and more practical measures. The prominent issues facing Party building must be effectively addressed and resolved, and the sound political environment formed through Party self-governance must be consolidated and developed, so as to continuously break new ground in Party self-governance and in revitalizing and strengthening the Party in the new era.
