KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's crude palm oil (CPO) prices are expected to remain above 4,700 ringgit (about 1,153 U.S. dollars) a tonne in October and likely through the rest of the year, supported by weather uncertainty and firm energy markets, the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) said on Tuesday.

Drier weather linked to El Nino has become more pronounced across Malaysia and Indonesia since early August, raising concerns over its potential impact on palm oil production in six to nine months, MPOC said in a statement.

Energy market disruptions have also intensified following the shutdown of Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline facilities amid an escalation in the conflict.

Downside risks include an easing in energy prices and further stock accumulation as palm oil production typically reaches its seasonal peak in September or October.

Despite monthly fluctuations, Malaysia's full-year palm oil exports are projected at 16 million tonnes, 5.2 percent higher than the 2025 volume, said MPOC.

Exports are expected to remain around 16 million tonnes in 2027, supporting Malaysia's role as a key global supplier, it added. ■
