BEIJING, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.97 percent to 3,949.91 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.65 percent higher at 13,730.02 points. ■
