CAIRO, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Egypt sees broad prospects for cooperation with China in water management, Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam said on Sunday.
Responding to a question from Xinhua at a press conference, Sewilam said China has advanced technologies and experience that could contribute to Egypt's efforts to modernize water management.
"China has a lot to offer," he said, noting that support from the two countries' leadership provides an opportunity to strengthen collaboration in this area.
A Chinese delegation is expected to attend Cairo Water Week in October, Sewilam said, adding Egypt is opening channels for discussions and cooperation.
Egypt is among the world's most water-scarce countries. More than 98 percent of Egypt's renewable water resources are linked to water originating from outside its borders, according to Sewilam.
The minister said Egypt is promoting digital transformation and advanced technologies in the water sector as part of efforts to make water use more efficient. ■
