MADRID, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Spain national soccer team coach Luis de la Fuente has signed a new contract that will keep him in charge through 2032.
De la Fuente led Spain to the 2023 UEFA Nations League title and followed that success by winning the 2024 European Championship and this summer's World Cup, where Spain defeated Argentina in the final.
The new deal will see him lead Spain at the 2030 World Cup, which the country will co-host with Portugal and Morocco, as well as the 2032 European Championship.
"We must keep improving and keep fighting to win," De la Fuente said at an event Monday to confirm his new contract.
"You never get used to winning; success lies in the act of competing," he said, adding that his side "isn't settling for what we've achieved so far. The best is yet to come."
"There are many good things ahead for us to enjoy," he added. ■
