BUENOS AIRES, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Swiss defender Lucas Blondel scored late as Huracan showed its title credentials with a 2-1 victory at River Plate in Argentina's Clausura tournament on Saturday.
Oscar Cortes put the visitors ahead with a 25-yard free-kick but Tomas Galvan equalized when his first-time effort from outside the area left goalkeeper Hernan Galindez with no chance.
Blondel restored his side's advantage in the 80th minute, slotting a low 18-yard drive into the far corner as Huracan clinched its fourth win of the campaign.
The result at Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires leaves Huracan third in the 15-team Zone B standings, three points ahead of ninth-placed River Plate.
Elsewhere in Argentina's top flight on Saturday, Santiago Montiel and Maximiliano Meza scored second-half goals as Independiente recovered from a goal down to win 2-1 at Union Santa Fe. ■
