MANILA, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Six allegedly armed individuals were killed in a clash with the Philippine army and police in the country's southern Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao on Saturday, authorities said.
In the course of serving an arrest warrant for a suspect charged with carnapping with homicide, government forces moved in, whereupon the suspect and his companions allegedly opened fire on the troops.
The incident triggered an exchange of gunfire that left six gunmen dead, and later the government authorities recovered five rifles.
The incident resulted in around 350 residents temporarily evacuating their communities. ■
