JERUSALEM, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that it struck Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon on Saturday after two soldiers were lightly wounded in an explosive device detonation.

The IDF said targets included observation posts and infrastructure used by Hezbollah to advance and carry out attacks against Israeli soldiers.

The strike came in response to the detonation of an explosive device that injured two soldiers earlier in the day within the "security zone" held by the Israeli military in southern Lebanon, it said.

Israel's state-owned Kan TV News reported that the bomb exploded in the area of the Saluki stream, adding that it was probably placed before the Israel-Lebanon ceasefire agreement came into effect in June this year.

The IDF added that its soldiers remain deployed in the "security zone" in accordance with the agreement between Israel and Lebanon, and will continue to operate to eliminate threats to Israeli civilians and soldiers.
