HONG KONG, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong Customs said on Saturday that they seized about 535 kg of suspected cannabis buds worth an estimated 125 million Hong Kong dollars (about 15.93 million U.S. dollars) on Sept. 2 at the Kwai Chung Customhouse Cargo Examination Compound, marking their largest-ever seaborne drug bust.

Through risk assessment and intelligence analysis, customs officers selected a 40-foot seaborne container, declared as carrying insulated boxes and arriving in Hong Kong from Thailand, for inspection. The batch of suspected cannabis buds was packed in vacuum bags and concealed inside the insulated boxes.

Three people suspected of being connected with the case were arrested, including two local men aged 21 and 47, and a 44-year-old Vietnamese man. ■
