ACCRA, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Ghana is ready for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) said in a statement on Thursday.

The GOC announced that 13 young athletes will represent the West African country at the Games, competing across eight disciplines.

The athletes, aged between 13 and 17, qualified through international federation pathways and will represent Ghana at the first Youth Olympic Games to be held on African soil.

The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games will be held from Oct. 31 to Nov. 13, bringing together around 2,700 athletes competing in 25 sports.

Ghana has competed at every edition of the summer Youth Olympic Games since the event was first held in Singapore in 2010, followed by Nanjing in 2014 and Buenos Aires in 2018.
