BEIJING, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislator and top political advisor met separately with Essam El Din Farid, speaker of the Egyptian Senate, in Beijing on Friday.
Zhao Leji, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, said that China stands ready to work with Egypt to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, carry forward traditional friendship, consolidate political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, and jointly create a brighter future for China-Egypt relations.
The NPC is willing to strengthen exchanges at all levels and in multiple fields with the Egyptian parliament, deepen experience sharing on democracy and rule of law development, and contribute to the building of a China-Egypt community with a shared future, Zhao said.
Farid said the comprehensive strategic partnership between Egypt and China has achieved results in various fields. Egypt firmly adheres to the one-China principle and is willing to work with China to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, he noted.
Farid said the Egyptian Senate will enhance exchanges with the NPC of China to provide guarantees for the development of the two countries.
Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said both countries should expand mutually beneficial cooperation, and the CPPCC National Committee will make contributions to the growth of the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership.
Highlighting the sound and steady development of Egypt-China relations over the past 70 years, Farid said that Egypt will actively participate in the Belt and Road cooperation and strengthen cooperation with China in such areas as economy, trade, and science and technology. ■
