JAKARTA, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia and Malaysia on Thursday signed an agreement to strengthen cooperation on rural development, including village entrepreneurship, digitalization and poverty alleviation.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed in Jakarta by Indonesian Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Yandri Susanto and Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
"We hope this MoU will not remain merely a document, but will be properly implemented to deliver the best outcomes for public welfare," Susanto said.
The cooperation covers village management, entrepreneurship, ecotourism and agrotourism, vocational training for rural youth, digitalization and poverty reduction.
The agreement will facilitate exchanges of policies and experience in rural development between the two countries while supporting the development of tourism villages, he said. ■
