MIES, Switzerland, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Spain and Germany, semifinalists at the 2026 FIBA Women's World Cup, moved into the top five of the latest FIBA women's world ranking released Thursday, while the United States and France remained on top.
Spain, the World Cup bronze medalist, climbed three places to third, while host Germany jumped seven spots to fourth after reaching the semifinals for the first time.
The two World Cup finalists, the U.S. and France, extended their leads over the rest of the field, with the U.S. collecting 1,076.1 points after capturing its fifth consecutive title.
Australia, ranked third in April, fell to fifth, and Belgium dropped one spot to sixth. China, which lost to France in the World Cup quarterfinals, also slipped three places to seventh after being overtaken by Spain and Germany.
Nigeria, Japan and Brazil complete the top 10. ■
