Chinese embassy in Sierra Leone holds reception on 77th founding anniversary of PRC

FREETOWN, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone on Wednesday held a reception to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).

The event was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone Zhao Yong, Sierra Leone's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Jeneba J. Bangura and over 10 cabinet ministers. Nearly 400 guests from all walks of life in Sierra Leone's party, government and military sectors, as well as representatives of the Chinese community in Sierra Leone, were present at the reception.

Zhao reviewed China's remarkable achievements over the past 77 years. He focused on elaborating on China's four global initiatives and zero-tariff policy for African countries.

The ambassador emphasized that taking the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Sierra Leone as an opportunity, China stands ready to work with Sierra Leone to elevate bilateral relations to new heights.

On behalf of the Sierra Leonean government, Bangura extended warm congratulations on China's National Day. She spoke highly of China's remarkable development achievements, reaffirmed Sierra Leone's firm adherence to the one-China principle, and expressed the expectation for continued steady progress in Sierra Leone-China relations.

Guests spoke highly of China's achievements in modernization drive and expressed their willingness to continue actively promoting the development of China-Sierra Leone relations.
