RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Former Brazil manager Tite has been named head coach of Botafogo on a deal running until December 2028, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Wednesday.
The 65-year-old replaces Rodrigo Bellao, who had filled the role on an interim basis after Franclim Carvalho was sacked on August 18.
Botafogo confirmed the appointment in a brief social media post along with an image of a smiling Tite in front of a Botafogo flag.
Tite, who was Brazil's manager from 2016 to 2022, had been out of work since parting ways with Cruzeiro in March.
He is expected to make his debut in Botafogo's dugout in Saturday's away Serie A clash against Mirassol. ■
