KATHMANDU, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from the devastating mudslide in Nepal has reached 1,403, while 6,150 people remain missing, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority said on Wednesday.

Four bodies and a body part were recovered from a tunnel of the Chilime Hydropower Project in Rasuwa district on Wednesday, as search and rescue operations continued.

According to the authority's latest report, 13,742 people have been rescued so far. A total of 2,096 people are currently taking shelter at 29 holding centers in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts.

The mudslide swept through the three districts on Aug. 26, causing widespread loss of life and damage to homes, infrastructure and hydropower projects.
