RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- At least four people were killed and seven others injured in a four-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon in Brazil's northeastern state of Bahia, the State Highway Police said Monday.
Police said the crash occurred when a vehicle entered the opposite lane while trying to overtake and collided head-on with another car.
After the initial impact, one of the vehicles was thrown against another car traveling in the same direction, while a fourth vehicle became involved after hitting the crashed cars.
Two drivers died at the scene, while another two people died later despite medical treatment. The injured were taken to the hospital for treatment.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing. ■
