KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- At least 37 areas recorded unhealthy air quality readings on Tuesday, according to data from the country's Air Pollutant Index Management System.

Air quality in parts of the northern Borneo state of Sarawak continues to be the unhealthiest, with the Serian area recording an Air Pollutant Index (API) of 188 as of 10 a.m. local time, while the state capital Kuching recorded 153.

On the peninsula, the area of Johan Setia in Selangor state recorded 183, while in Johor state the districts of Pasir Gudang and Larkin recorded 174 and 169 respectively.

According to the country's air quality rating, an API reading of zero to 50 is "good," 51 to 100 "moderate," 101 to 200 "unhealthy," 201 to 300 "very unhealthy," and 301 and above is "hazardous."
