MEXICO CITY, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Former Peru national team manager Juan Reynoso has reached an agreement to take charge of Necaxa, the Mexican club said on Monday.
The 56-year-old replaces Martin Varini, who was sacked after a 1-0 home defeat to Puebla on Friday.
Reynoso agreed to a deal that runs until December, marking his return to the club he represented as a player from 2002 to 2004.
"Today a new chapter begins with our new head coach. Welcome home," Necaxa said in a statement on its official website.
Reynoso had been out of work since parting ways with Peru's Melgar in March. His 22-year managerial career included a spell as head coach of Peru in 2022 and 2023.
Necaxa is currently 13th in the 18-team Liga MX Apertura standings with eight points from as many games. ■
