GAZA/RAMALLAH, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Three Palestinians were killed on Tuesday by Israeli fire in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, according to Palestinian sources.

Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Civil Defense in Gaza, told Xinhua that Saleh al-Dabour, 65, from the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip, was killed when Israeli forces opened fire on a camp for displaced people.

Basal said that another person was killed and two others seriously wounded in an Israeli airstrike on a vehicle in the Sheikh Ajlin area, southwest of Gaza City.

For its part, Israel said it killed Ahmad Batash, commander of Hamas' Jabalia Battalion, in an overnight strike in northern Gaza on Monday, accusing him of rebuilding the group's military capabilities and planning attacks.

The Israeli military and Shin Bet domestic security agency said Batash oversaw weapons for Hamas' Northern Gaza Brigade and helped supply arms and military equipment to its fighters.

Gaza-based health authorities reported that hospitals in the Gaza Strip received three bodies and 27 wounded in the past 24 hours.

Since the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel took effect in October 2025, Israeli attacks have killed 1,375 people, bringing the total death toll since Oct. 7, 2023, to 73,789, according to the report.

In the West Bank, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said in a statement that Ziad Jaber, 54, was killed by Israeli army fire in the Umm al-Sharayet area in the West Bank city of al-Bireh.

Local sources said that Israeli forces stormed the city, firing live ammunition and tear gas at Palestinians, then raided Jaber's home before shooting him inside.

Israeli authorities have not commented.
