BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- The 48th escort task group of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy will visit Bangladesh, Myanmar and Malaysia on its return voyage from the Gulf of Aden, according to a Chinese military spokesperson.
The task group recently completed its missions in the Gulf of Aden and set off on its return to China, said Jiang Bin, a spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, at a press briefing on Monday.
During the upcoming visits, professional exchanges and ship open days will be held to further enhance long-standing friendship and strategic mutual trust between the Chinese side and its counterparts, contributing to the building of a community with a shared future with neighboring countries, Jiang noted.
Composed of the guided-missile destroyer Tangshan, the guided-missile frigate Daqing and the comprehensive supply ship Taihu, the task group set sail for escort missions in the Gulf of Aden and waters off Somalia on Oct. 11, 2025.
The PLA Navy began conducting escort missions in the Gulf of Aden and the waters off Somalia in December 2008. ■
