SINGAPORE, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's bond market issuance rose 21.8 percent year on year in 2025 to a record 95 billion U.S. dollars, surpassing the previous high of 77 billion U.S. dollars recorded in 2023, its central bank said on Monday.
The Monetary Authority of Singapore said in a report that issuance remained robust, driven by refinancing needs as well as regional demand for capital to fund investments in artificial intelligence, technology and infrastructure.
Singapore's corporate debt market also continued to expand, with new issuance rising 10 percent year on year to 339 billion Singapore dollars (about 267 billion U.S. dollars) in 2025.
The outstanding size of the corporate debt market increased 6.8 percent to 659 billion Singapore dollars at the end of 2025.
Financial institutions remained the most active issuers across both Singapore-dollar and non-Singapore-dollar markets in 2025.
However, their share of total issuance moderated slightly as corporate issuers increased their participation, particularly in the Singapore-dollar market, said the authority. ■
