BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Fear-mongering, confrontation and vicious competition will only disrupt the process of global AI governance, which serves no one's interest, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said on Monday.
Spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks after some top lab CEOs called for slowing the technology's development.
"The development of AI bears on the well-being of all humanity. All parties should jointly promote the open and inclusive development of AI for good and for all," Guo told a regular press briefing.
According to media reports, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei on Saturday called on AI companies to slow the rate at which they advance model capabilities amid mounting fears of misuse of artificial intelligence. Both Elon Musk, who runs xAI, and Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, said that they agree with Amodei. ■
