Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday warmly welcomed Russian President Vladimir Putin, and presented him with a Russian translation of the Thirukkural, a classical Tamil text comprising 1,330 couplets on virtue, governance and love.
Modi said the translation carries the timeless wisdom of the great Tamil poet-philosopher Thiruvalluvar across languages and borders.
It was the two leaders' second meeting in less than two weeks, following their attendance at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Bishkek from Aug. 31-Sept. 1.
Their latest meeting took place on the eve of the annual BRICS Summit in New Delhi.
