MACAO, China, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- China's Chen Yi and Chen Xingtong reached the World Table Tennis Champions Macao semifinals with straight-game victories on Saturday.
Facing German veteran chopper Han Ying, Chen Yi maintained her rhythm throughout, winning 11-8, 11-9, 11-6, 11-8 in 34 minutes.
"It was our third meeting this year, and I lost both of the previous encounters after building a 2-0 lead. I adjusted my mentality well today; even when leading 3-0, I was just focused on my tactics and played point by point," Chen said.
Chen will face Hina Hayata after the fourth seed triumphed 11-8, 11-8, 17-15, 11-13, 11-8 in an all-Japanese clash against Satsuki Odo.
Chen was joined in the last four by compatriot Chen Xingtong, who swept Egypt's Dina Meshref 11-6, 15-13, 11-4, 11-8.
"Dina played very well in the previous two rounds and improved a lot over the past year, so I made full preparation for this match," said Chen Xingtong, who will take on top seed Miwa Harimoto of Japan in the semifinal.
In the men's singles quarterfinals, Zhou Qihao lost in five games to second seed Tomokazu Harimoto of Japan, leaving no Chinese paddlers in the men's draw.
Harimoto took the opening three games 11-5, 11-4 and 11-8. Zhou pulled one game back 11-6 before Harimoto secured the win 11-8 in the fifth.
Harimoto's next opponent will be Sweden's Truls Moregard, who beat Slovenia's Darko Jorgic in six games.
The other men's semifinal pits Sweden's Anton Kallberg against Brazil's Hugo Calderano.
The semifinals and final will be held on Sunday. ■
