MOSCOW, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- A deadly multi-vehicle traffic accident in Russia's Arkhangelsk region has killed 13 people, including three children, according to updated official figures released Saturday.
The collision occurred Friday evening in the Kholmogorsky District and involved three vehicles: a minibus, a heavy-duty logging truck and a passenger car.
According to regional police, the preliminary cause of the crash was an unsafe overtaking maneuver by the minibus. The vehicle drifted into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with the fully loaded logging truck.
Multiple law enforcement and supervisory agencies have launched official investigations into the incident. Russia's Investigative Committee has opened two separate criminal cases in connection with the fatal collision. ■
