RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Cruzeiro has signed Uruguayan left-back Matias Vina on loan from Flamengo for the rest of the season, both clubs said on Friday.
The 28-year-old, who is contracted to Flamengo until December 2028, will be tied to Cruzeiro until December with an option to buy.
Vina joined Flamengo from Roma in 2024 but made just 32 appearances for the Rio de Janeiro club before moving to River Plate on loan in January. Injuries and poor form limited him to 14 outings with the Argentine side.
Cruzeiro is currently sixth in Brazil's 20-team Serie A standings with 42 points, 12 behind leader Flamengo.
He is one of two Uruguayans in Cruzeiro's current squad, joining forward Luciano Rodriguez, who also arrived on loan last month from Saudi Arabia's Neom. ■
