RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Former Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech has joined Botafogo on a free transfer after parting ways with Morocco's Wydad AC, the Brazilian club said on Thursday.
The 33-year-old signed a deal that runs until December 2028 after completing a medical in Rio de Janeiro.
"The magic of Ziyech has arrived," Botafogo said in a social media post. "Now it's time to appreciate the Moroccan star's football."
Ziyech was born in the Netherlands but represents Morocco through parentage. He has scored 25 times in 64 international appearances and was part of the Morocco team that reached the semifinals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
In addition to Chelsea and Wydad, his career has included spells at Galatasaray, Ajax and Twente, among other clubs. ■
