TOKYO, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks ended lower Friday, with the Nikkei index briefly plunging over 3 percent, as crude oil prices climbed, while rising bond yields also fueled inflation concerns.
The benchmark Nikkei stock index, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average, ended down 1,259.61 points, or 1.93 percent, from Thursday at 64,011.34.
The broader Topix index, meanwhile, finished 26.28 points, or 0.65 percent, lower at 4,028.30.
Due to escalating Middle East supply concerns, the benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures price has climbed above the psychologically significant mark of 100 U.S. dollars per barrel for the first time since mid-May, analysts said.
Meanwhile, the yield on the benchmark 10-year Japanese government bond rose to 3 percent at one stage, also weighing on sentiment in the Tokyo stock market. ■
