MADRID, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Enric Mas retained the overall lead in the Vuelta a Espana after limiting his losses to Primoz Roglic in Thursday's 18th-stage individual time trial.
Mas began the stage with a lead of two minutes, six seconds over Felix Gall of Decathlon, with Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe's Roglic a further four seconds behind.
Stefan Kung of Tudor Pro Cycling won the 32.1-kilometer stage from El Puerto de Santa Maria to Jerez de la Frontera in southwestern Spain in 35 minutes and 22 seconds. Callum Thornley of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe finished three seconds behind.
Roglic placed fourth in 35:41, while Mas finished 12th, conceding just 33 seconds to the Slovenian.
Mas now leads Roglic by one minute, 37 seconds in the overall standings, with Gall more than three minutes off the lead. ■
