ATHENS, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- The flame for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games was lit at the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens on Thursday.
Following the lighting ceremony, the flame will be officially handed over to the organizers and arrive in Senegal's capital Dakar on Saturday. The torch relay will be held from September 14 to October 30.
The 2026 Youth Olympic Games, the first Olympic event to be held on the African continent, will take place from October 31 to November 13, with around 2,700 athletes participating. ■
