WINDHOEK, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Namibia has named a 20-player squad for the upcoming CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations COSAFA Qualifier, head coach Likius Shipanga announced on Wednesday.
The Young Warriors have been drawn in Group A alongside host Mozambique, Mauritius and Seychelles for the regional tournament, which will run from September 18 to 27.
Namibia will open its campaign against Mauritius on September 18 at Zimpeto Stadium in Maputo.
A total of 12 southern African teams will compete in the tournament, divided into three groups of four.
Defending champion South Africa is in Group B with Angola, Lesotho and Eswatini, while Zambia, Malawi, Comoros and Botswana make up Group C.
The winner of each group and the best-ranked runner-up will advance to the semifinals.
The tournament also serves as the southern African qualifier for the 2027 CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana, with the two finalists earning places at the continental tournament. ■
