PANAMA CITY, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Thomas Christiansen has extended his contract as Panama's national team manager, agreeing to a deal that runs until the 2030 FIFA World Cup, the Panamanian Football Federation said on Tuesday.
The 53-year-old's previous deal expired in June after Panama's group-stage elimination from the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
"Christiansen ... now has the mission of providing continuity to the work accomplished and preparing the new generation of players aimed at keeping Panama among the leading national teams in CONCACAF," the federation said in a statement.
The former Spain international striker was appointed in July 2020, replacing Argentina's Americo Gallego.
The Denmark-born coach had previously managed Leeds United and Belgium's Union SG, among other clubs. ■
