ANKARA, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Turkish authorities have arrested 80 suspects following anti-drug operations conducted across 28 provinces, the country's Interior Ministry said Tuesday in a statement.
The operations, targeting drug trafficking and illegal cannabis cultivation, were carried out by provincial gendarmerie commands in coordination with the Gendarmerie General Command, among others.
The authorities seized 548 kg of illicit drugs and more than 2.78 million drug pills during the operations, according to the statement.
Türkiye has long struggled with international drug trafficking. Turkish security forces regularly conduct operations to combat drug abuse and smuggling. ■
