MEXICO CITY, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Pachuca midfielder Andres Arroyo will undergo surgery after suffering a broken bone in his right foot, the Mexican club said on Monday.
The 24-year-old Colombian sustained the injury in a 2-0 victory at Juarez on Friday and scans confirmed a fracture of the fifth metatarsal.
"He heard a pop after landing awkwardly and couldn't walk," Pachuca team doctor Fernando Marquez said in a statement.
Local media reported that Arroyo is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks.
Pachuca is currently 11th in Mexico's 18-team Liga MX standings with eight points from seven games. ■
