JERUSALEM, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- An Israeli man was seriously wounded in a stabbing attack near Nablus in the occupied West Bank on Monday, before the suspected attacker was shot dead by Israeli troops, the military and police said.
The attack took place at the unauthorized Ma'oz Yehuda outpost near the Palestinian village of Osarin.
The military said troops imposed a lockdown on villages in the area and launched a search for the suspect. After locating his vehicle, soldiers encountered him and shot him dead when he attempted to stab them, according to the military.
Israeli emergency services said the wounded man, in his 20s, was evacuated by helicopter for medical treatment.
The attack came hours after a 20-year-old Palestinian dentistry student was shot dead in the village of Hajja near Qalqilya during a raid by Israeli settlers, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. Two other Palestinians were wounded, one seriously. ■
