BEIJING, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.07 percent to 3,932.7 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.91 percent higher at 13,774.91 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by these two indices stood at around 1.95 trillion yuan (about 287.6 billion U.S. dollars), down from 2.03 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.

Co-packaged optics (CPO) and non-metallic material stocks were among the biggest winners, while sectors of precious metals and insurance posted losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 3.41 percent to close at 3,398.68 points Monday.

The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 1.9 percent higher at 1,900.89 points.
