JERUSALEM, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Israel's military said Monday its deadly strikes in southern Lebanon targeted Hezbollah sites following drone launches toward its troops.
In a statement, the Israeli military said Hezbollah launched two explosive drones overnight toward soldiers operating in the Ali al-Taher Ridge area in southern Lebanon. No Israeli soldiers were injured, it said.
The military said it subsequently struck several Hezbollah infrastructure sites and killed several Hezbollah members in the Nabatieh area.
Earlier in the day, Lebanon's National News Agency reported that an Israeli airstrike destroyed a three-story residential building in southern Lebanon's Kfar Roummane, killing nine people, including two infants.
A separate Israeli strike on a vehicle in the same town killed two medics from the Islamic Risala Scouts, the agency reported.
The developments came amid continued tensions along the Lebanese-Israeli border despite a framework agreement signed by Lebanon and Israel in late June and several rounds of talks on security arrangements along the border. ■
