BELGRADE -- Serbian Prime Minister Djuro Macut formally proposed the dissolution of the parliament in a live TV broadcast following an extraordinary government session on Monday afternoon, paving the way for snap parliamentary elections.
"I propose that the Government of the Republic of Serbia, in accordance with the Constitution, proposes to the President of the Republic to dissolve the National Assembly and call elections for members of parliament," Macut said. (Serbia-Parliament)

MOSCOW -- At least 11 people were killed, six others injured and six more missing after an avalanche struck a group of climbers in Russia's Kabardino-Balkaria Republic in the North Caucasus, the Russian Emergencies Ministry confirmed on Monday.

JAKARTA -- A fire tore through a market in Indonesia's Central Papua province early Monday, killing 11 people, including six children, local police said.

MEXICO CITY -- At least 10 people were killed and 64 others injured after stored pyrotechnic material exploded Saturday night during patron saint festivities in Temascalcingo, central Mexico's State of Mexico, the state government confirmed Sunday.
