BEIRUT -- Four people were killed and 20 others wounded in Israeli airstrikes on several areas in southern Lebanon on Sunday morning, according to an initial toll released by Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health.
The Israeli military said on X that the attacks were a "response" to two explosive drones launched by Hezbollah at soldiers operating in an area of southern Lebanon where Israeli forces remain deployed and which Israel has declared a "security zone." (Israel-Lebanon-Airstrikes)

KIEV -- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his country is seeking to end the conflict with Russia but needs security guarantees.
"We are interested in bringing the end of the war closer. Peace is needed. Security guarantees are needed," Zelensky said on X ahead of talks with U.S. peace envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on Sunday.

TEHRAN -- Iran's aerospace forces attacked an aircraft carrier and a destroyer of the U.S. military with several ballistic missiles after the vessels harassed Iranian ships and participated in the naval blockade against the country, Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) said Sunday.
The two military vessels fled the conflict zone after suffering damage, the IRGC said in a statement published by its official news outlet, Sepah News. (Iran-U.S. Vessels-Attack)

CAIRO -- The foreign ministers of Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Indonesia and Pakistan on Sunday strongly condemned remarks by two Israeli ministers concerning the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.
In a joint statement, the ministers condemned recent remarks by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Defense Minister Israel Katz, including proposals for plans and mechanisms aimed at "forcibly removing Palestinians from their land."
"Such inflammatory statements and proposals flagrantly violate principles of international law, including international humanitarian law, and pose a direct threat to the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people," they said. (Egypt-Israel-Gaza) ■
