MANILA, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- The Philippine Office of Civil Defense on Sunday said that the enhanced southwest monsoon and four tropical cyclones since early August have killed 43 people and caused 11.92 billion pesos (about 190.1 million U.S. dollars) in damage to agriculture and infrastructure.
The office said that, apart from the fatalities, 20 people were injured and five remain missing.
More than 10.2 million people from 2.9 million families in 6,900 villages were affected. A total of about 4,500 houses were also damaged, of which 3,900 were partially damaged while 585 destroyed. ■
