TEHRAN, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- An Iranian oil tanker was targeted in a U.S. missile attack about 10 km off Iran's southern Kharg Island on Saturday morning, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported.
Four projectiles fired by U.S. forces struck the tanker, it said.
Citing local sources, the report said the attack caused no casualties and the crew members were evacuating the vessel.
Earlier in the day, Iranian media reported explosions near Kharg Island.
Following the U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran on Feb. 28, Tehran restricted passage through the Strait of Hormuz, barring vessels linked to the United States or Israel, while U.S. forces imposed a naval blockade targeting vessels traveling to or from Iranian ports and coastal areas. ■
