JERUSALEM/BEIRUT, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that its soldiers intercepted a drone launched by Hezbollah militants towards IDF-held positions in southern Lebanon's "Security Zone."
Troops opened fire and downed the drone, with no injuries reported, according to an IDF statement.
In response, the Israeli military carried out strikes in southern Lebanon overnight, it added.
The IDF said it will continue operating in the zone to remove threats to Israeli civilians and soldiers.
Separately, Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health reported that at least three people were killed and 23 others injured on Friday in a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting multiple areas in southern Lebanon. ■
