JERUSALEM, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement on Saturday that it had struck Hezbollah militants and military infrastructure overnight in southern Lebanon.
According to the IDF, the strikes were carried out after Hezbollah launched a drone toward Israeli forces in an IDF-held security zone in southern Lebanon on Friday evening. No Israeli soldiers were injured.
The targets included weapons storage facilities used by Hezbollah militants to plan and direct attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians, the statement said.
"The strikes were carried out to remove an immediate threat," it added.
The IDF said it would not allow Hezbollah to harm Israeli civilians or soldiers and would continue to eliminate threats while remaining committed to the ceasefire agreement. ■
